The Brooklyn Nets have already made one trade this offseason and it looks like they’re not done wheeling-and-dealing.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, the Nets are finalizing a trade to send veteran guard Patty Mills to the Houston Rockets. As of this writing, there is no indication of what Brooklyn is getting in return so it’s possible that the Nets are trading Mills to get more salary relief.

This is the second trade that Brooklyn has done this offseason after trading sharpshooting guard Joe Harris and two second-round picks to the Detroit Pistons for some salary relief. Like forward Yuta Watanabe, Mills saw his playing time dwindle after the trades of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving since the team brought in four new players as the result of those deals.

Mills, 34, has been in the NBA for the past 14 seasons after being selected by the Portland Trail Blazers with the 55th overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft out of the Saint Mary’s. Mills began his tenure with Brooklyn in the 2021-22 season and averaged 9.7 points per game while shooting 39.3% from three-point range in his two seasons with the franchise.
