Report: Broncos sign WR Cody White

The Broncos have signed rookie wide receiver Cody White.

The Denver Broncos have signed wide receiver Cody White, according to a report from KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis.

White (6-3, 215 pounds) played college football at Michigan State and opted to forego his senior season to enter the 2020 NFL Draft. After going unselected in April’s draft, White signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as a college free agent.

White didn’t survive early cuts in Kansas City when the Chiefs trimmed their roster from 90 players down to 80 players last month. White then landed with the New York Giants. New York waived White on Aug. 16.

In three seasons with the Spartans, White caught 143 passes for 1,967 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also rushed 11 times for 63 yards and another score. White posted college career-highs in catches (66) receiving yards (922) and receiving touchdowns (six) as a junior last fall.

Denver likely wanted to add more depth at wide receiver with KJ Hamler (hamstring) and Juwann Winfree (groin) battling injuries. White will join a room of receivers that already includes Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, Tim Patrick, DaeSean Hamilton and Diontae Spencer, among others.
