Report: Bills had meeting with Alabama WR Jameson Williams

A top WR met with the #Bills at the combine:

University of Alabama wide receiver Jameson Williams had a meeting with the Buffalo Bills at the 2022 NFL scouting combine.

That is according to Williams himself, who mentioned it during his press conference on Wednesday at the event in Indianapolis.

Williams is a big-time prospect at his position. He had  79 catches for 1,572 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2021. He averaged the most yards-per-catch in college football (19.9) despite really only having one huge year at Alabama after transferring there from Ohio State.

Could a guy like that actually be on the board when Buffalo picks at No. 25 at the 2022 NFL draft?

Williams might be, and it’s because of the last time we saw him.

The anchor for Alabama’s offense last year, their chances in the 2022 National Championship game fell apart when Williams went down with a knee injury. He suffered a torn ACL.

Pro Football Focus ranks Williams No. 17 overall on their big board, but his injury could cause him to fall.

If that is the case, it remains to be seen if the Bills would pounce.

Buffalo certainly has bigger needs than receiver heading into this offseason. At the top is Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis, who is fresh off a record-setting postseason.

Despite that, Emmanuel Sanders is a pending free agent, as is Isaiah McKenzie. Sanders might consider retirement over signing anywhere.

Cole Beasley is in the slot and Buffalo general manager Brandon Beane said he expects Beasley back next year, but you never know. He will be 33 soon.

Not to mention, the Bills run a spread offense often. They need numerous wide receivers that are talented.

All things considered, bringing in a deep-threat playmaker who could potentially take snaps out of the slot might be intriguing enough for the Bills.

Williams also mentioned, per Spectrum News, that he’s aiming to return by training camp. He also said playing with quarterback Josh Allen is something he’d “love” to do in the NFL.
