Report: Bills denied Giants permission to interview Brian Daboll

Buffalo Bills denied the New York Giants permission to interview offensive coordinator Brian Daboll.

The New York Giants and their new head coach in Joe Judge are still assembling the team’s new coaching staff. In doing so, the Buffalo Bills were contacted and asked if Brian Daboll could be interviewed.

The Bills said no, according to a report.

Per SNY, the Giants asked the Bills for permission to interview Daboll for their offensive coordinator job. But Buffalo said no. Why? Because it was a lateral move. Typically a team will grant permission when it’s a promotion, but lateral moves to the same job with another team, are sometimes denied.

That was the case with the Bills. Daboll was also previously considered a head coaching candidate with the Cleveland Browns, but that job ended up going to Kevin Stefanski.

Daboll, 44, was on the New England Patriots staff with Judge from 2013-16. The report says Daboll was “high” on Judge’s wish list.
