We might have just gotten the news we’ve all been hoping wouldn’t come down. According to a report from the Detroit Free Press, the Big Ten conference is set to announce the cancellation or postponement of fall sports, including the 2020 college football season.
The report comes amid a flurry of reports and sources citing a rift in college football between administrators between the Power Five conferences, athletes, parents, and even lawmakers.
According to the Free Press, the college presidents voted 12-2 Sunday to make the historic and unprecedented move because of COVID-19 pandemic concerns. Only Nebraska and Iowa reportedly voted to play according to Dan Patrick said on his radio show Monday.

It must be noted that no official announcement has technically come from the Big Ten, but it seems and appears inevitable. It will most likely be the domino to force the hands of the rest of the conferences without some serious creativity.
The move comes just a few days after the conference revealed a new conference only schedule to try and retain flexibility and position itself the best that it could to get through the season. Now, all fourteen members will be presumably sidelines for at least this fall, maybe longer.
