Spencer Rattler has gotten off to a dazzling start this season, already throwing for 977 yards and 10 touchdowns. Lincoln Riley has turned the redshirt freshman into one of the best quarterbacks in the country in just three games.

However, there are still growing pains as a freshman and Rattler has displayed that with four interceptions. Three came in Oklahoma’s Big 12 opener against Kansas State and another at home to Iowa State. Most importantly, in each game, Rattler has thrown the game-sealing interception. Usually, Sooner quarterbacks are coming up big in crunch time, not making plays to lose games.

In 2018’s Red River Shootout win, the Longhorns were able to intercept Kyler Murray once and force two more fumbles. Scoring 10 points off the turnovers turned out to be the difference in the 48-45 win. Now coming up against a redshirt freshman playing in his first Texas-Oklahoma game, the Longhorns will need to replicate that success.

If Texas can force Rattler to throw an interception or two and turn them into points, the Longhorns could be wearing the Golden Hat Saturday afternoon.
