Ranking the Bills’ needs after first wave of free agency

With all those moves in mind and as the second week of free agency gets underway, here’s an updated ranking of the Bills’ needs and the offseason rolls on:

9. Cornerback

This group was attacked by the Bills before free agency opened as Josh Norman was added. He’s really the wild card here. What form will he have?

With his most recent team, the Redskins, he was brutal most recently. While playing in Sean McDermott defensive with the Panthers, he was an All-Pro. As long as he’s somewhere in between there while playing across from an All-Pro in Tre’Davious White, that should be solid for the Bills, the same way Levi Wallace has been in that same exact role. Norman will likely have to battle for that No. 2 role with Wallace. The final piece here is Taron Johnson, who has been a good nickel cornerback for the Bills, when healthy.

Really all the Bills need here is one more depth piece. And there’s reason to trust them finding it in the draft. Through White, Wallace and Johnson, McDermott has shown he has an eye for young, talented cornerbacks. Expect the Bills to fill this group out with a rookie.
