3. Tight end
The Bills have a packed house in their tight end room as it is. Dawson Knox tops it, and then there’s also Lee Smith, Tyler Kroft, Jason Croom and Tommy Sweeney. But facts are facts, the Bills wanted Greg Olsen.
Olsen would not be contacted if the Bills they did not intend to make him their No. 1 tight end who could also be a veteran mentor. So the team sees an opening there.
But while there might be one, it’s tough to imagine them finding anyone else to fill that spot at this point. The top tight ends, such as Eric Ebron, are off the market, but perhaps Buffalo invests in another rookie in Round 2 or 3 of the upcoming draft in an effort to create a 1-2 punch there with Knox (who needs to cut out some drop issues himself).
But what seems most likely is the Bills giving Kroft another shot there. He restructured his contract with the team after an injury-filled first season in with the club. Then there’s Sweeney, who is a raw prospect, but did flash some talent so maybe he improves, too.
