Quincy Allen to miss entire freshman season following hip surgery

Quincy Allen will miss his entire freshman season following hip surgery

With less than a week until their first preseason practice, news broke that Colorado Buffaloes men’s basketball freshman Quincy Allen will miss the entire season after undergoing hip surgery.

Pat Rooney of BuffZone released the news mid-day Thursday.

The 6-foot-7 freshman had been practicing with CU earlier in the summer but was sidelined by the injury during CU’s mid-August exhibition trip in Costa Rica. Allen was primed to give Colorado minutes at the three-spot.

A four-star recruit from Washington DC, Allen is a member of Colorado’s top-ranked freshman class in the Pac-12 according to 247Sports. He is ranked as the No. 17 small forward recruit in 2021 by 247Sports and was last season’s Gatorade Washington DC Player of the Year.

Sophomores Tristan da Silva and Luke O’Brien will likely see increased time as a result of Allen’s absence. Expected four-spot starter Jabari Walker, who averaged 14.2 minutes last season, is also capable of playing the three-spot.
