Quarantined Donovan Mitchell says ‘I feel fine’ after positive coronavirus test

Donovan Mitchell shared an update on his health after testing positive for the coronavirus.

After the NBA suspended its season Wednesday night when Utah Jazz player Rudy Gobert tested positive for the new coronavirus, news broke the next day that his teammate, Donovan Mitchell, also tested positive for COVID-19, the name of this coronavirus strain.

Mitchell previously opened up about the diagnosis in an Instagram post on Thursday. He thanked people for supporting him and encouraged others “to behave responsibly both for their own health and for the well being of those around them.”

In a video shared by the NBA’s Twitter account Saturday, Mitchell provided an update on his health while he’s currently quarantined.

In the brief video, Mitchell said:

“I just want to say thank you guys so much for your continued support, man. It means a lot to me. I feel fine. Things are going well. I’m just taking the proper precautions, as was told to me by the health authorities.

“Gotta stay in isolation, so I’m solo in here, playing video games all day. And I can’t wait to get back out there on the floor and play for the best fans in the world. Really miss playing in front of you guys, and I’ll see you guys soon.”

While the NBA was the first major sports organization to suspend its season, the NCAA, NHL, MLB, MLS, PGA Tour and NASCAR were among those that followed in an effort to keep slow the spread of the virus.

In addition to Mitchell and Gobert, other high-profile sports figures who have tested positive for the coronavirus include an unidentified XFL player, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and Juventus defender Daniele Rugani.
