For the most part during the NFL Draft mock season, we have seen former Irish star safety Kyle Hamilton going inside the first few selections of the projections. Well, Pro Football Focus doesn’t think that will be the case.
Austin Gayle recently dropped his two-round draft guess and Hamilton is set to head home to Georgia and play for the Atlanta Falcons if he is correct. Although PFF rates him as the second overall player in the draft, Gayle has Hamilton falling outside the top-5, going eighth overall.
Gayle’s rationale is that “safety isn’t a premium position, and it is relatively low on the positional value chart,” giving a reason why Hamilton could fall. He does contradict himself a bit saying that the safety is “different.”
It’s always interesting to see where the experts project players to land, each one of them values skill sets differently, but for Gayle, he’s not as “high” on Hamilton as most.
