Potential replacements, takeaways from Jon Feliciano injury

Contract year for Feliciano

Personally this could be a big blow for Feliciano. The Bills could still bring him back this season. The team did confirm Feliciano’s injury on Friday, but did not say exactly how they’re going to handle it. He could be a candidate for the injured reserve list, which could allow the Bills to bring him back into the fold later on.

But if Feliciano doesn’t play at all, it’s a big blow for him financially. This upcoming year was a contract year for him. Feliciano is slated to be a free agent after this year.

After playing with the Raiders for the first four years of his career, Feliciano signed with a Bills because there was an opportunity to start. He grabbed a starting position last offseason and never looked back. If he produced another solid season, Feliciano could’ve been in-line for a solid pay day during the 2021 offseason. Now that’s very much in question.

But this injury could help the Bills keep him because his price tag could potentially be lower now. Because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the NFL is expecting a big loss of revenues, which could lower that salary cap in 2021. That might make it harder to bring Feliciano and other free agents back.
