Player grades: Joel Embiid returns, but Sixers fall at home to Wizards

Joel Embiid returned to the floor, but the Philadelphia 76ers fell to the Washington Wizards at home.

The Philadelphia 76ers entered Wednesday’s home contest with the Washington Wizards feeling confident about themselves. They had just come off an emotional overtime win over the Memphis Grizzlies while Joel Embiid rested and they were welcoming Embiid back to the lineup on Wednesday.

However, the team did start a bit flat and the Wizards took advantage of it as they built a lead of 12 before the Sixers showed some life and took the lead, but they eventually fell at home 106-103 as they could not execute down the stretch. The Wizards were just too much for Philadelphia as the Sixers did not get enough out of their bench unit in this one. Washington held a 53-27 edge in bench points.

Embiid led the way for the Sixers with 27 points, 14 rebounds, and six assists, Tyrese Maxey had 22 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists, and Tobias Harris had 18 and nine rebounds. Isaiah Joe hopped off the bench and had 11 points as well with Georges Niang adding 12.
