Pistons: Killian Hayes’ status uncertain Friday vs. Celtics with injury

The 19-year-old suffered a sprained right ankle this week and is considered to be day-to-day.

After suffering a sprained right ankle this week, Detroit Pistons rookie Killian Hayes’ availability to play on Friday against the Boston Celtics is uncertain, head coach Dwane Casey said.

Hayes left Tuesday night’s game versus the Golden State Warriors during the third quarter and was later ruled out by the team. Casey said after the game Hayes tried to play through the injury in the second half but was, ultimately, unable to continue.

“Killian went through some workouts today,” Casey said on Thursday. “He is still day-to-day. We’ll see where he is [on Friday].”

The 19-year-old went scoreless in 17 minutes of work during the loss to the Warriors as he missed all four of his shot attempts from the field. He has started each of the Pistons’ four games to this point, averaging five points, 3.5 assists and 1.5 rebounds in 21.8 minutes per game.
