The Washington Commanders failed to capitalize on a major opportunity to begin the season 2-0 with a 36-27 loss to the Detroit Lions Sunday.
It was a tale of two halves for Washington, who went into halftime down 22-0. However, quarterback Carson Wentz and Washington’s offense got moving in the second half, outscoring the Lions, 27-14, but couldn’t get enough defensive stops to pull off the come-from-behind win.
Wentz had another big day, passing for 337 yards and three touchdowns in his second start for the Commanders. Unfortunately for Washington, Wentz didn’t receive a lot of help from his offensive line or defense in the loss.
