PHOTOS: Former Lady Vol Monica Abbott through the years

Pitcher Monica Abbott played for Tennessee from 2004-07.

Abbott is one of the most decorated players in college softball history.

She appeared in 253 games, starting 206, with the Lady Vols, and had a 189-34 career record. Abbott totaled 112 shutouts, 16 saves, 178 complete games, 2,440 strikeouts and a 0.79 ERA at Tennessee.

The former Lady Vol pitched 23 no-hitters and six perfect games during her collegiate career. She led the Lady Vols to three consecutive Women’s College World Series appearances (2005-07).

Abbott’s No. 7 jersey was retired by the University of Tennessee on March 23, 2013.

Abbott won two silver medals (2008, 2020) with Team USA in the Olympics. She came to Tennessee from North Salinas High School in Salinas, California.
