PHOTOS: LSU women’s basketball keeps dancing into Final Four with win over Miami

The Tigers will face the winner of Virginia Tech and Ohio State in the national semifinals.

The No. 3-seeded LSU women’s basketball team outlasted No. 9-seeded Miami in an Elite Eight defensive battle on Sunday night. With the 54-42 win, the Tigers are moving on to the Final Four for the first time since 2008.

Coach Kim Mulkey’s team overcame a poor shooting performance as the team hit just 30.2% of its shots for the game, but a stifling defensive performance against a Hurricanes team that turned the ball over 18 times guided the Tigers to the win.

[autotag]Alexis Morris[/autotag] was the offensive bright spot as she had a 21-point outing, though she shot just 8 of 22 from the field. [autotag]Angel Reese[/autotag] went just 3 of 15 and scored 13 points, though her 18 rebounds gave her double-double No. 32 on the year, setting a new SEC record.

LSU will now face the winner of Monday night’s game between No. 1-seeded Virginia Tech and No. 3-seeded Ohio State looking for its first-ever national title berth. Here were the photos from Sunday’s win.
