Philip Rivers tells me he hasn’t heard from the Saints but would listen.

Well that’s interesting. Former Los Angeles Chargers and Indianapolis Colts quarterback Philip Rivers told the L.A. Times’ Sam Farmer that while the New Orleans Saints have not approached him about exiting retirement, he “would listen” if they made him an offer.
That lines up with Rivers’ comments in August, in which he said he wasn’t pursuing any NFL opportunities while coaching a high school football team in Fairhope, Al., but he would consider a return to the league in the right situation.
Rivers took the Buffalo Bills down to the wire in January’s playoffs, completing 27 of 46 pass attempts for 309 passing yards. He threw a pair of touchdown passes and avoided any sacks or turnovers in their 27-24 loss. If the Saints chose to give him a call, there’s a good chance he could be productive with them.
But Sean Payton said this week that he’s satisfied with the state of the Saints quarterbacks room after Jameis Winston’s season-ending injury, so it doesn’t sound like any big new additions are on the way. Then again, stranger things have happened. Keep an eye out for updates.
