Philadelphia Flyers at Colorado Avalanche odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Philadelphia Flyers at Colorado Avalanche odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Philadelphia Flyers (21-32-11) visit the Mile High City to face the Colorado Avalanche (45-14-5) Friday at Ball Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we look at the Flyers vs. Avalanche odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Flyers are flying high after scorching the St. Louis Blues 5-2 on the road Thursday. They’ll look to pull off another upset over the Western Conference leaders in Denver.

The Avalanche are coming off of an upset of their own, but they were on the wrong side in falling to visiting Vancouver 3-1 Wednesday. The setback snapped a four-game winning streak for the Avs and was just their fourth loss in regulation at home this season.

  • Money line: Flyers +320 (bet $100 to win $320) | Avalanche -420 (bet $420 to win $100)

  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: +105 | U: -130)

Flyers at Avalanche projected goalies

Carter Hart (13-20-7, 2.97 GAA, .910 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Pavel Francouz (11-3-1, 2.50 GAA, .919 SV%, 2 SO)

Hart has been Jekyll and Hyde this month with 4 or more goals allowed in five of eight starts, but he still holds a 3.26 GAA during the stretch. He hasn’t faced the Avs since 2019 in a 3-1 loss. Hart has been off since allowing 4 goals in a 6-3 loss to the Detroit Red Wings Tuesday.

Francouz was announced as the starter Friday afternoon, and this is one avenue where you really don’t lose much going to your backup. Francouz is 2-1-1 with a 2.75 GAA in four starts this month.

Flyers at Avalanche odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Avalanche 4, Flyers 2

Money line

PASS.

The Avs (-420) are far too expensive. It’s a tall chore to ask the Flyers to upset Colorado less than 24 hours after upsetting St. Louis. PASS.

Against the spread

For as good as the Avs are, second in the NHL with 3.8 goals per game, they are just 31-33 against the puck line.

These two faced each other in early December with the Avs prevailing 7-5 in a tight contest. We’re in the stretch run here, and goals aren’t that easy to come by.

The FLYERS +2.5 (-145) should be able to keep this one within two goals.

Over/Under

The Under is 5-1 in the last six for Colorado. Philadelphia recently traded away its best player in C Claude Giroux, to the Florida Panthers at the trade deadline.

The Flyers could have wobbly legs in this back-to-back slate on the road. So, we’ll LEAN to the UNDER 6.5 (-130).
