Shoutout to Brandon Beane:

Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane is regarded amongst the best in the business. His job requires a keen eye for talent and scouting, swinging trades, and overall, building a roster from top-to-bottom.

Factored into there is keeping some of your own around. Pro Football Focus reflected how strong Beane has been at that.

The football analytics outlet named the 32 best contracts in the NFL. Beane’s work shines at No. 11 and 12.

There, PFF named the extensions the Bills signed quarterback Josh Allen and offensive lineman Dion Dawkins to:

11. QB JOSH ALLEN, BUFFALO BILLS: SIX YEARS, $258 MILLION ($150 MILLION TOTAL GUARANTEED AT SIGNING, ROLLING GUARANTEE STRUCTURE)12.

LT DION DAWKINS, BUFFALO BILLS: FOUR YEARS, $58.3 MILLION (THREE YEARS, $29.285 MILLION IN CASH REMAINING)

Allen and Dawkins are just two examples of how Beane has kept his own players locked in. There’s also cornerback Tre’Davious White, linebacker Matt Milano and nickel defender Taron Johnson just to name a few.

Allen popping up on this list is simple: He might be the best quarterback in the NFL after his 2021 season. Prior to that, Beane already had locked him into a long-team deal.

That’s extremely savvy work by the GM.

Altogether, the Dawkins contract is maybe the best deal Beane ever put together.

According to PFF’s analytics, Dawkins is only one of five players in the entire NFL to have a pass-blocking grade over 75.0 each of the last five seasons.

In the passing game that football has become, that must mean Dawkins has a top-three deal… at least a top five?

Currently Dawkins’ contract has an annual value of $14.575 million per year. Well deserved.

But it’s only the 13th largest AAV of any left tackle in the NFL.

A steal.
