Even the mighty NFL isn’t immune from the vast restrictions that have been put in place as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic that is keeping people around the world inside their homes.
The league’s premier event, the NFL draft, will still take place this April but will be “fully virtual” to ensure the safety of all involved. The NFL offseason, however, prevents a number of challenges with all team facilities closed.
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll is doing what he can to stay ahead of the game, preparing as best he can should some restrictions be lifted in the near future.
“Well everything is kind of in flux right now,” Carroll told Sirius XM NFL Radio, per Pro Football Talk’s Curtis Crabtree. “We’ve set back the time frame to start but we’re getting ready for virtual offseason and all of that. We’re all working real hard to do that to get organized so that we can do it really well. We just have to be patient, but in the meantime we just kind of keep grinding and stay with the mentality kind of like that they could tell us next week that we’re on.

“We’re attempting to be as prepared as possible. We’re not saying ‘OK, we’ve got three or four weeks to figure this thing out.’ We’re not doing that. We’re just going for it.”
The NFL and NFLPA are working diligently to provide some sort of guidance for a virtual offseason, beginning with a “Pre-Phase One” that will be entirely voluntary.
