Pete Carroll details Seahawks’ injuries following loss to Saints

Coach Pete Carroll provided a number of injury updates following the Seattle Seahawks loss to the New Orleans Saints on the road in Week 5.

The Seattle Seahawks lost more than just the game on Sunday afternoon in New Orleans when running back Rashaad Penny left the field on a cart after sustaining a serious ankle injury, which is likely a fractured tibia.

“He hurt his ankle . . . seriously,” coach Pete Carroll said during his press conference. “I don’t want to make any statements because I don’t know exactly until they get all the MRIs and stuff, but he’s got a bad ankle and he’s going to have trouble getting back.”

Penny wasn’t the only Seahawk to get banged up during the matchup, defensive tackle Al Woods left the contest early as well with a knee injury.

“His knee flared up,” Carroll said. “He was having a great game, he was doing everything. It’s really unfortunate because had his whole family here, everybody’s right down the road and all that. He was dying to go back in, but he couldn’t quite get it done.”

Finally, guard Gabe Jackson rotated out some time due to a hip flexor and wide receiver Penny Hart suffered a hamstring injury.
