Patriots downgrade two players as out for Sunday’s game vs. Jets

Two injured Patriots players have been downgraded as out on Sunday.

The New England Patriots will be shorthanded in the defensive backfield for another week with veteran Jonathan Jones being officially ruled out for the team ahead of Sunday’s game.

Rookie offensive lineman Sidy Sow was also ruled out by the team.

Injuries on the offensive line and at cornerback have been the story of the season for the Patriots. This might be the first week that the primary starters—Trent Brown, David Andrews, Cole Strange and Mike Onwenu—are on the field together in the 2023 season.

Meanwhile, the Patriots just placed second-year cornerback Marcus Jones on injured reserve. Jack Jones has also been on injured reserve. With Jonathan Jones banged up, the team went out and signed rookie cornerback Azizi Hearns and veteran Breon Borders to the practice squad.

New England will now be down to rookie Christian Gonzalez, Myles Bryant and Shaun Wade as their top cornerback options heading into a pivotal divisional matchup against the Jets on Sunday.
