Pass rusher Aldon Smith agrees to terms with Seahawks

Pass rusher Aldon Smith has agreed to terms with the Seattle Seahawks after a visit on Wednesday. He’ll add depth to the defensive line.

After a trip to the facility on Wednesday, free-agent pass rusher Aldon Smith has agreed to terms with the Seattle Seahawks on what is reportedly a low-risk, one-year deal.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport were the first to report the visit and the contract agreement. As Rapoport also notes Seattle had attempted to trade for the defensive end last year.

The Seahawks have been diligently putting together their defensive line this offseason and Smith figures to be a rotational part of the puzzle who will add coveted depth to the line.

The biggest concern with the veteran will be whether or not he can stay out of legal trouble – the very issue that cost him his career with the 49ers after four years with the team.

Smith was eventually able to achieve reinstatement from the league and signed with the Cowboys on a one-year deal last season.
