Panthers re-signing CB Troy Hill on 1-year deal

As first reported by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Panthers are keeping CB Troy Hill around.

The Carolina Panthers are keeping another piece of their defense.

As first reported by NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero on Monday morning, the team is re-signing cornerback Troy Hill on a one-year deal. The veteran defender joined the Panthers last August and went on to appear in 16 games in 2023.

Prior to his arrival in Carolina, Hill played under Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero and secondary/cornerbacks coach Jonathan Cooley during their time with the Los Angeles Rams. The undrafted free agent out of the University of Oregon spent six of his 10 NFL seasons in Los Angeles—where he amassed 279 total tackles, eight interceptions and three fumble recoveries.

Hill proved to be one of the Panthers’ finer pickups of the 2023 campaign. The 32-year-old made three starts over his 16 outings—recording 48 tackles, an interception, a forced fumble and six passes defensed.

Pro Football Focus graded Hill at a 66.9 mark in coverage, his highest since 2020.
