Panthers release tight end Seth DeValve

According to a report by David Newton at ESPN, it’s due to a non football injury.

Tight end was already one of the thinnest positions on the Panthers roster. On Wednesday, it got a little thinner when the team released the recently-signed Seth DeValve. According to a report by David Newton at ESPN, it’s due to a non football injury.

After spending three years with the Browns and then one with the Jaguars, DeValve signed a one-year deal with the Panthers in late March. We had projected him to be the No. 3 tight end on the depth chart behind Ian Thomas and Chris Manhertz.

The team will probably look to sign another tight end before the season begins. For now, this gives players like the undrafted rookie Cam Sutton a better chance at making the team.
