The Panthers finally got a cornerback.
With the No. 113 pick in the 2020 NFL draft, the team selected Troy Pride Jr. from Notre Dame.
Pride (5-foot-11, 193 pounds) offers plenty of speed. At the NFL combine, he ran a 4.4 second 40-yard dash, one of the best times in a deep class of cornerbacks. Despite not getting much playing time his first two years at Notre Dame, he finished his college career with four interceptions and 18 pass breakups.
Pride has some rather large cleats to fill. He projects as the team’s new starting outside cornerback on the other side of Donte Jackson, a role previously held by James Bradberry and Josh Norman.
Carolina may not be done with cornerbacks, yet. They still need to replace Javien Elliott in the slot.
