A pair of Cornhuskers should expect to hear their names called on Day 2 of tonight’s NFL Draft. Center Cam Jurgens and cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt are projected to be taken in the second or third round by NFL scouts and draft gurus. Jurgens will more than likely be the first Nebraska player off the board. At the combine, he came in at 6’3″ tall and weighed 303 pounds. The Beatrice, Nebraska native, started every game at center in 2021 and was selected third-team All-Big Ten by the conference’s coaches. According to ESPN’s draft analysis of the best available players, Jurgens was listed as the best center available, and the 31st ranked player overall.
Cam Taylor-Britt hails from Montgomery, Alabama. At the NFL combine, he stood at 5’11” tall and weighed 196 pounds. In 42 games at Nebraska, he had 96 career tackles, 2.5 sacks, 6 interceptions, and 27 passes defended. Taylor-Britt was a second-team All-Big Ten selection by both the coaches and the media in 2021. The ESPN draft trackers listed him as the fourth-best cornerback available and the 40th-best remaining player overall.
No one knows exactly what will happen tonight, but for these two proud Cornhuskers, it should be an evening they’ll remember for the rest of their lives.
