Geno Smith gave a wild reason for why he did call heads on controversial coin toss

Richard Sherman’s non-reaction is all the proof needed here.

Geno Smith’s call of heads during the overtime coin toss of Monday night’s thrilling game between the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers took on a life of its own on the internet, as many fans could have sworn they heard the backup QB call tails.

The whole thing quickly became the newest version of the Laurel or Yanny phenomenon, as it seemed lots of people were torn on what he said.

Who wasn’t torn – which should squash this debate – was 49ers CB Richard Sherman who was standing three feet from Smith when he made the call and didn’t have any type of reaction that would make one think that Smith didn’t call heads.

Smith explained to NFL Network’s Jim Trotter that he did in fact call heads and he had a reason for making the call:

Now I’m not great at math but that theory doesn’t seem to check out as being a good one, but whatever. It’s basically like saying: Tails never fails but once it succeeds it will likely follow up with a fail.

Sherman’s non-reaction is all I need to know that Smith called heads. This debate is now over!

5 big plays from the Browns’ Week 10 win vs. Buffalo

Not everything was positive but there were some great highlights too

What moments stood out from the Browns’ big 19-16 win over the Buffalo Bills in Week 10?

Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt usage

Both Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt were used on over 50% of the Cleveland Browns offensive snaps in Week 10 against the Bills. In this play, not only are both runners on the field, but Kareem Hunt delivers a block to help establish Nick Chubb’s cut back lane for a great run.

Jarvis Landry great catch for a touchdown

Landry has been the best and most reliable wide receiver for the Cleveland Browns in 2019. On this play, Landry makes a great hands catch extending his arms away from his body. After the play, Landry was called for a taunting penalty and Austin Seibert ultimately missed the field goal. This was a great play and also a reminder to not let yourself get caught up in the heat of the moment.

Rashard Higgins game-winning touchdown

Browns fans have been rooting for Higgins to get more playing time and he did. Higgins finished Week 10 with 47% of the offensive snaps. While this was a great catch and I enjoyed seeing Higgins on the field, I also wonder if he would have been on the field if Antonio Callaway wouldn’t have been benched (click here for the full story). I will be watching closely to see if Higgins’ usage continues to trend up or if Callaway returns to the field and supplants Higgins.

Baker Mayfield safety

One of my biggest concerns with Baker Mayfield is his ability to get the ball out on time and this play perfectly outlines why. While the play design is horrible and there should have been a runner in the backfield with pass protection duties, it is also on the quarterback to deliver the ball when his back foot hits on the three-step drop. Mayfield double clutches and tries to scan the field for another option. If the ball was thrown on time, it could have been thrown away. Instead, Mayfield tries to make “the big play” and takes a safety.

Incredible Jarvis Landry catch to set up the game-winning score

As mentioned earlier, Landry has been the best wide receiver for the Browns in 2019. This play shows not only great concentration, but also his ability to adjust to the ball in the air. While we shouldn’t dwell on Odell Beckham uncovering himself in the deep middle or Kareem Hunt being wide open on the right side of the field, the catch was great and set up the game-winning touchdown to Rashard Higgins.

In the NFL, we’re headed to Week 11 after one of the best weeks of the season that ended with San Francisco losing their first game of the season on Monday night. This week is headlined by Houston at Baltimore, New England taking on Philadelphia and New Orleans at Tampa Bay.

(note: These picks were made by our Editor and are subject to change. Check out WinnersandWhiners.com for a full analysis and update on each matchup)

*There will be a battle of MVP candidates when Deshaun Watson takes on Lamar Jackson. Houston is coming off a bye after they annihilated Jacksonville, 26-3 on the road from London in their last game. Can Houston slow down Jackson and the league’s top running game that averages 197.2ypg.? The Texans are very good against the run, but this is not your average run offense. Batlimore is good against the run (91.2ypg), but they have struggled against the pass (252.9ypg). The Ravens blew out Cincinnati last week and while they may not blow out Houston, they will cover at home.

*The Saints were a no-show last week at home against Atlanta, falling 26-9 in the most shocking upset of the week. That broke a six-game winning streak. The Saints should get back on track, but they weren’t dominant against the Bucs in their first meeting, winning 31-24 on Oct. 6. Tampa Bay broke a four-game losing streak by beating Arizona last week by three. The Bucs do stop the run (77.8ypc), but they stink against the pass (298.9ypg). The Saints will wake up this week and take apart the Bucs on the road. Go with the road fave.

*The marquee game of the week features New England and Philadelphia coming off a bye. This is a Super Bowl  XXXIX  rematch when the Eagles beat the Patriots, 41-33. Nick Foles is in Jacksonville, so Carson Wentz has something to prove. The Patriots are coming off their first loss, a 37-20 defeat at Baltimore two weeks ago. Philly is starting to put things together and they stop the run (87.3ypg). Wentz has something to prove so take the Eagles at home, getting 3.5.

8 fantasy football waiver wire claims to make ahead of Week 11

Fantasy football waiver wire claims to make ahead of Week 11.

Need a fresh face for your fantasy football roster this week?

It’s never too late for a few extra points to add to your win column.

Here are eight waiver wire claims to make in fantasy football ahead of Week 11:

QB Nick Foles

Big man on campus, quarterback Nick Foles, in back in the fold for the Jaguars in Week 11. Foles hasn’t played since injuring his collarbone in the team’s season opener and he now might be a good add for a late-season run. He does have a tough meeting this week against the No. 9 pass defense in the Colts, but he has meetings against bottom-feeders such as the Bucs, Raiders and Falcons in the coming weeks.

RB Brian Hill

Devonta Freeman was lost by the Falcons in their Week 10 upset of the Saints. Without him, it’ll be Brian Hill as the No. 1 back. Ito Smith’s season is already over due to a neck injury as well. In relief last week, Hill had 20 carries for 61 yards with one catch. The No. 29 Panthers’ run defense awaits this week as well.

Triple Take: What makes sense for Rose Namajunas’ UFC return fight?

There are options out there for Rose Namajunas – it’s just a matter of which one makes sense.

Former UFC strawweight champion Rose Namajunas has been out of action since May, when she lost her title to Jessica Andrade by knockout via a devastating slam. In the immediate aftermath, the 27-year-old Namajunas expressed doubt about fighting ever again. But six months later, she’s talking about a return to the cage and says the UFC has even offered her a fight that she’s considering. So what makes sense for “Thug” Rose’s return? Farah Hannoun, Nolan King and Mike Bohn sound off in this edition of “Triple Take.”

****

Farah Hannoun: Fight Tatiana Suarez

Now that Rose Namajunas is rejuvenated, it shouldn’t take long for her to climb back to the top, considering her accolades in the division. But since she didn’t determine an exact date for a return, a No. 1 contender fight with [autotag]Tatiana Suarez[/autotag] to determine the next strawweight title challenger should be next.

Suarez also has been sidelined as she recovers from an injury, but is on the cusp of title contention. With champion Zhang Weili likely to face former champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk next, a fight between Namajunas and Suarez to determine who’s next would work out well. Despite losing her last fight, Namajunas was in the middle of a striking masterclass against Jessica Andrade before a pivotal mistake cost her.

While an argument can be made for both Namajunas and Suarez to get the next title shot, neither has given a date for a return, but their timelines could coincide. A very worthy challenger would emerge from such a high-caliber fight, which is why it makes so much sense.
