Schedule change: 49ers get 2 additional prime-time games vs. Packers, Rams

The 49ers got two additional prime-time games, starting with the Packers in Week 12, which is now on Sunday Night Football.

Add two more prime-time games to the 49ers’ schedule.

Their Week 12 home game against the Green Bay Packers has been flexed to Sunday night. Kickoff is now slated for 5:20 p.m. PT instead of the original 1:25 p.m. Seahawks at Eagles was the original Sunday night matchup.

The 49ers’ loss to the Seahawks put the 8-2 Packers only a half-game behind San Francisco for first place in the NFC standings.

San Francisco doesn’t have an easy Week 11 matchup. They’ll face the Arizona Cardinals, who pushed the 49ers to the brink in Week 9 before the 49ers eventually prevailed 28-25 in Arizona.

Green Bay is idle with a bye week.

That leaves two scenarios on the table for what’s now a huge Sunday night game. Either the 49ers and Packers are both 8-2 and jockeying for a first-round playoff bye, or the 49ers are a game up on the Packers with a chance to create separation.

The Week 16 showdown with the Rams at Levi’s Stadium, which did not have an official time, has been given a 5:15 p.m. PT start on Saturday, Dec. 21. That game will air on NFL Network.

That one could wind up determining the division winner depending on how the rest of the season shakes out. In their first matchup, the 49ers got the better of the Rams, 20-7, in Week 6 in Los Angeles.

This is quite a departure for the 49ers, who had their Sunday night game against the Rams last year flexed out in favor of a more competitive, meaningful matchup.

Prime-time kickoffs should only add to the electricity of two extremely big games for the 49ers in their push for a playoff spot.

Packers-49ers flexed to ‘Sunday Night Football’ in Week 12

The Packers’ Week 12 trip to play the 49ers in San Francisco has been flexed to “Sunday Night Football.”

The Green Bay Packers will do battle with the San Francisco 49ers in primetime in Week 12.

The NFL flexed the previously scheduled late-afternoon matchup to “Sunday Night Football,” putting the showdown between the NFC’s current No. 1 and No. 2 seed under the lights of Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara on Nov. 24.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:20 p.m. CT.

The Seattle Seahawks and Philadelphia Eagles were originally scheduled to play on “Sunday Night Football.” That game was moved back to the noon CT timeslot.

The matchup between the Packers and 49ers could determine the NFC’s No. 1 seed going into Week 13. The Packers are 8-2 entering the bye week, while the 49ers will have a chance to improve to 9-1 with a game against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.

The Packers have already played four primetime games. They are 3-1 in those games, with wins over the Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs and a loss to the Eagles.

Jason Knight says he’s getting paid ‘star money’ for BKFC 9 rematch with Artem Lobov

This would not be the case if Knight fought in the UFC.

[autotag]Jason Knight[/autotag] believes there’s no better money to be made for him in combat sports right now than with Bare Knuckle FC, and that includes the UFC.

Knight, a six-fight UFC veteran, rematches [autotag]Artem Lobov[/autotag] on Saturday in the BKFC 9 headliner in what’s arguably the most anticipated rematch in company history.

The first time out, Knight and Lobov engaged in a bloodbath that saw Lobov take a razor-close decision. The rematch is a big fight, and while grueling, Knight said it’s his financially profitable way of competing.

“With Bare Knuckle, they’re just starting out, and they’re still very, very early in their stages,” Knight told MMA Junkie. “They’re not very far along like the UFC is, so they need stars. They need people to go out there and shine, and they’ve got money like the UFC does. They got that star money where they can pay people, and right now I’m one of the big stars, so I love to be getting that big money. In the UFC, even if I was to fight my ass off and make it back to the UFC, I’m making it to the bottom of the totem pole if I get back to the UFC. I’m not one of the big stars. I’m not one of the high-paid guys in the UFC.

“In Bare Knuckle, as of right now, I’m one of the highest paid, and I plan on it staying that way. I plan on the paychecks getting bigger and bigger, and I’m excited about that. I’ve got a family. I’ve got three kids that look for daddy to take care of them and provide for the future. Right now Bare Knuckle is the spot to do that.”

Knight did not reveal the specifics of what he stands to make, but he will receive a purse for fighting in addition to pay-per-view, which is priced at $29.99 on Fite TV.

The potential gains that could come with this fight made it easy for Knight to prepare. He said he was already motivated to beat Lobov after feeling he got wronged in the decision of the original fight, but now everything is perfectly in line for him to put on the performance he wants.

“Somebody has got to go to sleep, and I’m going to make sure it isn’t me,” Knight said. “I underestimated Artem a little bit last time. I thought I was going to shut him down pretty quick, and I thought I was going to have more heart than him and be tougher than him. I thought it was going to be no problem. But now I know he’s just as durable as I am, so I’m going to make sure I go above and beyond with everything.”

NFL announces Rams-49ers will be on Saturday night in Week 16

The NFL awarded Rams-49ers a prime-time slot in Week 16, with kickoff at 8:15 p.m. ET on Saturday night.

The Los Angeles Rams are quickly falling out of playoff contention with each mounting loss, seeing their postseason odds drop to 16.5 percent after Week 10’s results. Yet, the NFL still wants them in prime time late in the season.

The league announced on Tuesday that the Rams-49ers matchup in Week 16 will be held on Saturday night. There were three time slots available on Saturday in Week 16 with five games to choose from, and the NFL decided to give this NFC West showdown was given a marquee spot.

Bills-Patriots will be at 4:30 p.m. ET, with Texans-Buccaneers taking place at 1 p.m. ET that Saturday. The other two games – Raiders-Chargers and Lions-Broncos – will be on Sunday.

This means four of the Rams’ final seven games will be in prime time, with two in a row coming up against the Bears (SNF) and Ravens (MNF) the following week.

When Week 16 rolls around, the Rams hope to be in playoff contention. If not, they’ll try to play spoiler against the 49ers and drop them down in the postseason seeding.

NFL flexes Packers-Niners to Sunday Night Football on Week 12

The Green Bay Packers-San Francisco 49ers game on Nov. 24 has been flexed to SNF.

NBC is going to be the beneficiary of an audible by the NFL on Week 12.

Instead of a battle of the Birds, between the Seahawks and Eagles, on Sunday night Nov. 24, the NFL has moved the Packers-Niners game to that evening.

The Seahawks-Eagles game wasn’t shabby but Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay against Jimmy Garoppolo and the Niners must have seemed a bigger lure when it comes to TV ratings.

Have to wonder if the league is reacting to the ratings from MNF’s spectacular Seattle-San Francisco game.

And one more note involving the suddenly fashionable Niners.

Tyler Herro has been ruled out Tuesday night vs. the Pistons

After initially being listed as questionable to play, Heat rookie Tyler Herro will not play on Tuesday night.

The Miami Heat will be without rookie Tyler Herro on Tuesday night at home against the Detroit Pistons due to a sprained left ankle, the team announced prior to the game.

The details of the injury are not yet known and it is unclear when Herro initially suffered the sprained ankle. The Heat last played Friday night on the road against the Los Angeles Lakers as Herro recorded seven points in the loss.

Herro has appeared in each of the Heat’s nine games to this point and is averaging 13.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists. He ranks seventh among all first-year players in scoring and ninth in 3-point percentage among rookies logging at least 10 minutes per game.

Herro was going to warm up prior to the game with the intention to play but either he or the team did not feel comfortable with him suiting up against the Pistons.

The Heat returned home on Tuesday after finishing 1-2 on a recent West Coast road trip.
