One question for every Big 12 team going into the 2020 season

Nothing is certain in the Big 12 this upcoming season, with teams needing answers. Here is one question for every Big 12 team for 2020.

Oklahoma State – Will the trio of Sanders, Hubbard, and Wallace push them towards the Big 12 championship game?

It was a huge shock in Stillwater when both star running back Chuba Hubbard and star wide receiver Tylan Wallace announced they were going to be coming back for the 2020 season. Mix in quarterback Spencer Sanders taking snaps for his second season and the Cowboys have the most dangerous trio in the Big 12.

The safest bet out of these three players will by Hubbard. Rushing for over 2,000 yards last season, not only did the Canadian lead the Big 12 in rushing yards, but he had the most yards in the country. If Hubbard can bring back the same kind of form into the 2020 season, Heisman rumors will be swirling around his name.

With Wallace, he is coming off a season where he only saw eight games last season before tearing his ACL in practice. Before the tear, the receiver was considered to be a day two draft pick but decided to stay another year to prove himself. When he was on the field, he had 100+ reception yards in four games. Wallace has torched Texas in the past, going for 10 catches, 222 yards, and two touchdowns in 2018.

The wildcard in the whole equation will be Denton Ryan product, Spencer Sanders. Coming in as a dual-threat quarterback, Sanders has the ability to run with the ball just as well as he throws it. His passing does need to improve, however, as his 2,095 passing yards ranked ninth in the Big 12 last season.

Can all three of these players come together and lead Oklahoma State to a Big 12 championship? On paper, the talent is there with the nation’s leading rusher, a former Biletnikoff finalist, and a former four-star quarterback coming back for his second season under center.

The execution must improve from 2019 though. Mainly from Sanders, who struggled greatly in the Cowboys’ three regular-season losses. If the quarterback play takes a step up, Oklahoma State will be vying for a spot in the Big 12 championship game next season.
