On this day: Bob Cousy’s last game as a Celtic; Frank Ramsey drafted

On this day, Boston point guard legend Bob Cousy played his last game for the Celtics, and Hall of Fame wing Frank Ramsey was drafted.

It is also the anniversary of four wins since the season of Boston’s last title in 2007-08.

The first was a Game 4 win that saw the Celtics sweep the New York Knicks in the first round of the 2011 Eastern Conference Playoffs behind Kevin Garnett’s 26 points and 10 rebounds.

Point guard Rajon Rondo contributed 21 points and 12 assists to set up the second round meeting with the Miami Heat.

“It’s what we expected coming in. We knew it wasn’t going to be easy, obviously Games 1 and 2, but we found a way to put it away,” Rondo said via the Associated Press. “We haven’t swept a team in a long time, so it’s good feeling.”
