A year after putting off the NFL to the surprise of many draft experts, Penn State offensive lineman [autotag]Olu Fashanu[/autotag] has officially declared for the 2024 NFL draft. Fashanu announced his declaration for the NFL draft in a social media post on Friday. His status for the Peach Bowl remains in question a week away from the bowl game.
“A year ago I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to declare for the NFL draft. I am forever grateful that I made the decision to come back and complete with my brothers one last time while also graduating,” Fashanu said in his released statement on social media. “With that being said, I am proud to announce that I will be declaring for the 2024 NFL draft. I look forward to spending time with my teammates and coaches in Atlanta for the Peach Bowl.”
Fashanu was projected to be a first-round draft pick in the 2023 NFL draft before he announced he was going to return for another season with the Nittany Lions. The return to college football for the 2023 season did not harm his NFL draft stock. It may have actually helped him move up the big boards as a potential top-10 pick.
Fashanu previously said he was practicing with the team and will be with the team in Atlanta for the Peach Bowl, but it has not been confirmed if he will play in the game.
