The athleticism and production didn’t start to match up for Neville Gallimore until Alex Grinch took over as a defensive coordinator. And the switch from Mike Stoops made by Lincoln Riley has paid off for the five-year college player.

The Dallas Cowboys selected Gallimore in the third round with the 82nd pick of the 2020 NFL Draft.

The St. Catharines, Ontario, native came to Oklahoma in 2015 as a four-star prospect. Gallimore redshirted his first year before becoming a partial starter in the 2016 and ’17 seasons. He took over the defensive tackle position in 2018 under Mike Stoops before breaking out under Alex Grinch in 2019.

Gallimore recorded a career-best 7.5 tackles for loss and added four sacks in the new, disruptive scheme. His biggest accomplishment may have been demanding so much attention from LSU that, on certain offensive plays, the Tigers triple-teamed Gallimore. The former Oklahoma defensive tackle was a first-team All-Big 12 selection by coaches and media.

He’ll join former Oklahoma defensive tackle Gerald McCoy along the defensive line for the Dallas Cowboys. Gallimore’s college teammate, CeeDee Lamb, was taken by Dallas with the 17th pick in the first round.
