The Big 12 Conference didn’t have the best start to the 2021 NFL draft.
As a whole, the conference became the first Power-Five conference to not have a first-round selection since 2006.
On Thursday night, the Big 12 became the first Power Five conference to not have a first-round pick since the Big East in 2006 according to CBS Sports. To pour salt on the wound, Houston, BYU, Tulsa and North Dakota State each had more picks than the Big 12 in the first round.
The closest that the conference came was when Oklahoma State’s Teven Jenkins came off the board to the Chicago Bears with the No. 39 pick overall. He will be tasked with protecting their first-round quarterback, former Ohio State Buckeye Justin Fields.
Day two was much better with a total of six players finally coming off the board with two Oklahoma Sooners among them.
A full breakdown of the 22 players drafted, with the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns leading the way with five apiece.
