It’s been a long time since oddsmakers thought Oklahoma should lose to Texas. Like, a long time. OU is 2.5-point favorites this year.

It’s been a long time since oddsmakers thought Oklahoma should lose to Texas. Like, a long time.

The Sooners have been favorites in this historic rivalry game every single year since 2009. That’s 11 years since Texas has been expected to win this game.

The 2020 rendition of OU-Texas is no different. Oklahoma has held steady as a 2.5-point favorite from the offseason and as of Thursday afternoon of game week, according to BetMGM. This is now the 12th-straight year Oklahoma is a favorite.

The Sooners have gone 7-3 overall in the last ten games against Texas at the Cotton Bowl. However, Oklahoma has not covered the spread in this game for seven-straight years. Landry Jones and company were the last time to do it whenever the Sooners were three-point favorites in 2012—Oklahoma would go on to win that game 63-21.

The 2012 game was also the last time Oklahoma had been this small of a favorite.

Both teams head into this game after a tumultuous start to the season. The Sooners have lost back-to-back regular season games for the first time since 1999 and Texas lost to TCU at home last Saturday.

Oklahoma and Texas are scheduled to kickoff at 11 a.m. CT inside the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.
