Oklahoma College GameDay sign compliments, trolls Texas at same time

An Oklahoma Sooners sign at the College GameDay event in Norman compliments and trolls the rival Texas Longhorns, takes shot at Tennessee.

ESPN’s College GameDay is in Norman, Oklahoma this week for the Sooners vs. Tennessee Volunteers matchup. The game is OU’s first SEC conference game.

The 3-0 Volunteers have started the season red-hot, winning their first three games by a combined 191-13. The Sooners are also 3-0, but have struggled at times, especially against Houston.

There’s been a long “controversy” about which school is the “real UT.” Both the Texas Longhorns and Tennessee Volunteers fanbases abbreviate their school’s name as “UT,” The arguments are always silly, just as the ones between Southern Cal and South Carolina for “USC.”

A Sooners fan at the College GameDay event decided to take a shot at today’s opponent Tennessee by playing off the “UT or UT” controversy with a clever sign.

The sign says “Call me when OU plays the REAL UT.”

Texas and Oklahoma went into the SEC hand in hand and in many ways will always be tied together because of it. So it’s complimentary from the Sooners fan and it kinda shows OU has Texas’ back.

On the other hand, the sign still has inverted Horns. Texas and OU are still rivals after all.
