Condolences, tributes, and compassionate words continue to trickle into the Ohio State football program after the Buckeyes lost one of the best to ever run out of the tunnel at the quarterback position in Columbus. Words can never express the depth of the loss family, friends, and all of Buckeye Nation experienced with Haskins was tragically killed trying to cross a highway in south Florida early Saturday morning.
All of it is still very early and extremely raw for all involved, but the shadow of some details of ways to remember Haskins are beginning to emerge. OSU head coach Ryan Day met with the media on Monday to remember Haskins and field questions and Day confirmed that the Buckeyes will find a way to honor Haskins at the annual spring game on Saturday.
When asked about plans on remembering Haskins in some way Saturday, Day said it’s in the works.
“We’re still deciding on that,” Day told reporters Monday. “We’re still trying to process all of that. In today’s day and age, things happen so fast. We’re just trying to digest it all. I have a list of things that I’ve written down — some probably too big — some maybe not big enough. We’ll just keep talking about it this week.
“I don’t think we’ll decide this week, but certainly going to do something on Saturday to recognize him in some sort of tribute, which I think is very, very appropriate, especially with Buckeye Nation all being together.”
