Ohio State quaterback Devin Brown set to enter transfer portal

Ohio State quarterback Devin Brown announced that he will enter the transfer portal to find greener pastures. Brown stated he will stay with the team through the OSU playoff run to honor his commitment.

Brown came into Ohio State as the No. 6 rated quarterback in the 2022 recruiting class but could never quite get his footing. After redshirting his freshman season, he was beaten out by Kyle McCord in 2023 and was unable to beat out transfer Will Howard this year.

Brown had an opportunity to show what he could do as the starter last year in the Cotton Bowl against Missouri but lasted only four possessions before sustaining an ankle injury that would prevent him from playing the majority of the game. Brown decided to stay even after Ryan Day hit the portal looking for a new quarterback to help lead the Buckeyes in 2024.

However, with speculation that current freshman Julian Sayin will be the starter in Columbus next season, Brown has decided it’s time to move on.

No one can blame Brown for entering the portal to see what he can be as a starter somewhere. He has shown what it means to be a true Buckeye over three years facing adversity over and over again. Brown will have two years of eligibility remaining with whatever team he joins.

Brown makes the fourth Ohio State player to enter the portal this season joining receivers Jayden Ballard and Kojo Antwi, along with linebacker Gabe Powers,
