Ohio State players, others in Buckeye Nation, react to Big Ten’s decision to postpone football season

Twitter was set ablaze by the Big Ten’s decision to postpone the football season to spring. We’ve collected the best Ohio State reactions.

It was the news we probably knew was coming but were hoping didn’t. After a few days of rumblings, murmurs, and reports that the Big Ten was on the verge of shelving the football season this fall, it was finally announced. And while the COVID-19 pandemic is a real issue that the world is grappling with, and the season is being postponed because of the health and safety of the student-athletes, there are other ramifications.

Guys careers could be hurt, there will undoubtedly be financial blows to real people, not to mention what happens to other sports that rely on the revenue football generates.

So then, it should be no surprise that the reaction from Buckeye Nation was swift and real on social media. It’s a subject many people feel very passionate about because it not only strikes many in the pocketbook, but it’s in the very fabric of who people are culturally — especially in places like Columbus, Ann Arbor, Lincoln, and Happy Valley.

We’ve gathered some of the Twitter reactions from those tied to the Ohio State program and are sharing them with you here. No matter what you believe about this decision, there’s no way around the fact that this is a sad day.

Let’s kick it off …

It’s all very sobering, especially when you see broken hearts and questions that can’t be answered being shared as some players’ dreams literally have the potential to be dashed.

All we can do is take one step forward and see where this all goes towards having some sort of football season in the spring.
