Ohio State linebacker Reid Carrico announces transfer destination

Country roads, take me home… #GoBucks

Former Ohio State linebacker Reid Carrico has announced his transfer destination. Carrico will follow country roads to a new home in West Virginia.

Hailing from Ironton, Ohio, the former four-star recruit was never able to quite get his footing in Scarlet and Gray. Carrico spent two years in Columbus but couldn’t work his way into any kind of productive role outside of special teams.

Carrico was the No. 9 ranked linebacker in the 2021 class and a top 100 player overall according to 247Sports composite rankings. However, with the emergence of freshmen C.J. Hicks and Gabe Powers, Carrico found himself buried on the depth chart without much chance of earning playing time.

Carrico transfers to a Mountaineer team that was 8-4 in the regular season where he will have an opportunity to compete for a starting position right away.
