There’s an offensive explosion on the basketball court unfolding in Happy Valley between Ohio State and Penn State. The pace has been furious with both teams shooting a high percentage. The Buckeyes ran out to a ten-point lead, but the Nittany Lions stormed back and trail by just four points at halftime, largely because of a three-point bomb just before the buzzer by Buckeye sharp-shooter Justin Ahrens. OSU heads into the locker room up 47-43.
Ohio State ran out to a hot start and led by as many as ten points earlier in the first half. But like the Buckeyes found out earlier in the year when the two teams matched up in Columbus, Penn State is a team that can give about anyone a game with its tenacious defense.
The Nittany Lions slowly reeled the Ohio State back in and cut the lead to just one-point before Justin Ahrens hit a three heading into the locker room for the halftime margin.
For the Buckeyes, it’s been a case of hot shooting and a stellar first half by E.J. Liddell. He leads all scorers at halftime with 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting. All told, Ohio State is shooting 65.4% from the floor, with Penn State not far behind at 53.6%. Jamari Wheeler leads the Nittany Lions with eleven points at the half.
Another Big Ten battle…

While the high-scoring affair is fun to watch, the Buckeyes will want to lock things down a little better in the second half on defense, or this thing could end up in the loss column.
