Well, that was fun. As Mr. sportswriter, when I am in the thick of a game like this and writing and multi-tasking, trying to meet story deadlines and all, I look forward to sitting down and rewatching an instant classic without all the stress and handwringing that goes with the territory of such a game.
And so it’ll be at some point on Sunday.
But as anxiety inducing as it is for fans and members of the media, imagine how palpable it is for the players and coaches. You could see the exhale from head coach Ryan Day and some of the players after this one, but not before Day got fired up in a brief postgame interview with NBC Sports immediately after the game.
In his official postgame interview after the dramatic 17-14 win over Notre Dame, Day was at least a little more reserved, though the theme of questioning his team’s toughness continued to be a main point of emphasis.
But there was more discussed too, and in case you missed any of his comments, thanks to the YouTube channel of WCMH4 in Columbus, we’ve got the entire postgame interview that includes the head coach, quarterback Kyle McCord, and running back Chip Tryanum.
Watch and listen below as Day touches on the pride he has for the program, Kyle McCord’s clutch play, what the defensive effort meant for the team, and more.
Ohio State can now have a collective weeklong exhale as it hits an off week before taking on Maryland at home on October 7. Before that though, we’ll have continuing coverage of the Buckeyes as they step through a week of rest and reflection.
