Ohio State head coach Ryan Day expects quarterback Justin Fields to play against Alabama

While appearing with the media on Monday, Ohio State football head coach Ryan Day said he expects Justin Fields to play against Alabama.

The big news coming out of the Sugar Bowl Friday night besides Ohio State curb-stomping Clemson, was the vicious hit Justin Fields took and had to play through for more than one-half of the game. Sometimes adrenaline takes over and allows a player to finish the game he’s in, but then it’s a different story the next day.

We’ve heard very little about the status of Fields since one of his most memorable games in an OSU uniform Friday night, but we finally got one from head coach Ryan Day.

While appearing before the media on a Zoom call Monday, the Ohio State head man says he expects Fields to play against Alabama in the College Football Playoff National Championship game.

That’s good news for Ohio State and its fans. Fields has been inconsistent in the shortened and sporadic 2020 season, but what we saw against Clemson in the Sugar Bowl is more what we’re used to and aligns more with what we’ll probably see next Monday night.

There’s still not been any word on the extent of the injury to Fields, and we’re really unlikely to get one, but it sounds like he’s going to be a problem that Alabama will have to still solve in Miami.
