Ohio State has second-most former players of any program on active NFL rosters

After NFL teams trimmed things down this weekend, Ohio State ended up with the second-most former players on active NFL rosters.

There are a lot of measurables you can use for how dominant of a college football program Ohio State is. One of those is how many players it not only churns out to the NFL (hint, it’s a lot) but how many have staying power and remain productive on rosters.

We recently did a piece highlighting every single former Ohio State player on active rosters across the NFL and it took a while to put together. Not because we spent countless hours designing graphics or searching for images to use, but because there is a whopping 50 total Buckeyes on collective 53-man NFL rosters right now.

If that sounds like a lot, it is. In fact, according to ESPN Stats and Info, there’s only one program that has that beat, Alabama. The Tide have the Buckeyes beat by five players which is pretty significant, but no other team comes close to those two monster NFL factories. LSU is a distant third with 42 players.

Rounding out the top eight are Florida (39), Penn State (34), Michigan (33), Georgia (32), and Miami (31).

With so much talent playing at the next level, it’s no wonder Ohio State has been one of the top two or three programs in college football over the last ten years.

And with the recruiting classes still coming, there’s no end in sight.
