Ohio State is ramping things up significantly in preparation for the reinstated fall season in the Big Ten, and part of that was getting into Ohio Stadium this past Saturday to have a little scrimmage in spider pads and helmets. It wasn’t a full-contact type of affair, but it was no doubt good to get into the ‘Shoe and have a little fun with competition inside the venerable venue.
Head coach Ryan Day seemed to be excited about the possibility of getting the juices flowing while speaking during the coach’s call-in show last week. He felt it was important to get into a cavernous, empty stadium and get a feel for what it’ll be like this fall with no fans at Big Ten games.
“We’re going to go into the stadium and do some work in there and just turn off all the music and get the feeling for what it’s like to play in an empty stadium,” Ohio State coach Ryan Day said last week on his coach’s show. “Kind of make that our new norm.”
