Ohio State Football Team has a little fun after unexpected bye week

The Ohio State football team took some time to have a little fun playing an old school recess game. It’s dodgeball, Scarlet and Gray style.

“If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.” Hopefully, some of you got that reference.

A football season can be a grind — especially in a year like 2020. And coaches are always looking for ways to break up the monotony and build chemistry. With an unexpected bye-week after Maryland had to cancel due to COVID-19, coach Ryan Day decided to have a little old school style competition with his team.

We told you yesterday that after it was found out that the Maryland game wouldn’t happen, the focus turned immediately to Indiana. That doesn’t mean there isn’t some time for team building and friendly competition in the way of having rubber balls hurled at your face. That’s right, the football team took a break from football prep to play an old gym class favorite, dodgeball.

It looks like teams were divided up offense vs. defense and then maybe to give the bigger guys a chance, the offensive and defensive lines vs. staff. As you can see from the video posted on the Ohio State Football Twitter account, it looks like the guys really enjoyed themselves.

In a college football world that often seems more like a business than a game, it’s nice to see kids just having fun. Hopefully no sore arms for anyone, but what a great way to turn a negative into a positive!
