In case you missed it, over the weekend Ohio State senior defensive tackle Haskell Garrett was injured in a shooting and taken to the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center. Details surrounding the incident are still emerging, but police followed a trail of blood and found Garrett to be shot in the “cheeks of the face,” according to a report from the NBC affiliate in Columbus.
Though many reports had him in stable condition with a non-lethal gunshot wound, it’s still obviously a significant situation that requires monitoring.
On that note, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day issued a statement on Monday with the news that Garrett is expected to be released from the hospital.
“Haskell Garrett has been receiving excellent care at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center for the injuries he received on Sunday,” Day said in a statement. “We anticipate he will be released from the Medical Center this morning. On behalf of his family and this football program, we would like to thank all those who have been a part of Haskell’s treatment and we are grateful that he will be heading home today. We will continue to help him and his family any way we can to expedite his recovery.”
This is extremely good news and we wish nothing but a speedy recovery from the Las Vegas native.
