We had a good feeling about everything lining up based on what we were hearing from the folks at Ohio State, but now we have the confirmation straight from the university.
The OSU athletic department confirmed travel plans and status for the game against Michigan State Saturday through a release from a spokesman Friday.
“We are very confident that we are heading to East Lansing with a team that can safely compete and whose health, safety and well-being has been our utmost concern,” OSU Dr. Borchers said in the release. “We’ve tested, monitored and evaluated our results daily and have advised the student-athletes, coaches and performance staff accordingly.”
Ohio State paused football activities and canceled the game against Illinois last Saturday after a rise in positivity rates for COVID-19 testing. Athletic Director Gene Smith confirmed later that the team could have played based on the numbers but decided to be proactive and shut things down before things got worse.
It appears to have worked. Here is the complete release from Ohio State.
