Ohio State CB Ryan Watts enters the transfer portal, Texas expected to be involved

A potential transfer target for Texas?

With all the buzz surrounding quarterback Quinn Ewers and where he will play next season, another talented Ohio State player has entered the transfer portal.

Former four-star cornerback Ryan Watts started the Buckeyes’ season opener against Minnesota before moving to a reserve role for the rest of the year. He finished the 2021 season with six tackles and two interceptions in six games played.

The 6-foot-3 defensive back will have three years of eligibility at his next destination and has shown the ability to play both corner and safety.

With the loss of Josh Thompson to the NFL, along with BJ Foster and Chris Adimora to the transfer portal, it would make sense for Texas to reach out to Watts as the Horns could use some depth in the defensive backfield.

During his original recruiting process, current Texas cornerbacks coach Terry Joesph had a relationship with Watts while at Notre Dame.
